  1. Mother of 14 who HATES her children

    30 June 2011 - 09:55 AM

i've just read this article in the Daily Mail and it got me so angry i was simply short for words. the woman in the story who's well known by her nickname Octomom Nadya Suleman has confessed to In Touch that she hates her fourteen children and doesn't know how to cope with the stress they cause her.

in case you don't know who this woman is, she became famous in early 2009 after giving birth to the longest surviving octuplets in the US history. When she had her 8 babies she was already a mother of six (worth mentioning, a single and unemployed mother of six). now two years later she says she hates her life, considers suicide and wishes she never gave birth to her children at all (all of them conceived via IVF using donor's sperm with Suleman insisting on implanting as many eggs as possible).

    she says:

I hate the babies, they disgust me.My older six are animals, getting more and more out of control, because I have no time to properly discipline them.
The only way I can cope is to lock myself in the bathroom and cry. Sometimes I sit there for hours and even eat my lunch sitting on the toilet floor. Anything to get peace and quiet. Some days I have thought about killing myself. I cannot cope.
Obviously I love them - but I absolutely wish I had not had them.
My bank account is overdrawn by $300 and I have no money to pay for the children's school, food or the mortgage.

this woman is disgusting. how can she blame the kids when it's her to blame in the first place? there are so many families dreaming of having children/child and she's lucky to have 14! i know 14 is way too many but it was her decision to have so many kids (just for fun? publicity?) i don't understand her and i think social services should read this article, too, to take away the kids if she doesn't know how and doens't want to take care of them.

what do you think about this woman and her words?
  2. Yo-Yo Dieting

    07 June 2011 - 06:05 AM

i think many know what yo-yo dieting is from their own bitter experience. It's so common that once you lose weight, you pile the pounds back on as soon as you return to your pre-diet eating regime.

i've always thought that yo-yo dieting is super bad for your health. like it's such a huge stress for the body, as well as psychological stress that seems to be even worse than the physical one. However, i've just read that yo-yo dieting is now considered GOOD for you, if compare with NO dieting at all.

After a 2-years long experiment, the scientists say that those mice placed on a diet which alternated between high and low fat lived 25 per cent longer than those kept on a high-fat diet – and almost as long as those on a permanent low-fat regime. They also had better blood glucose levels, while the results hinted that the yo-yo dieters had lower levels of damaging immune chemicals linked to diabetes, heart disease and cancer.

Study leader Dr Edward List, from Ohio University, said: ‘The new research shows that the simple act of gaining and losing weight does not seem detrimental to lifespan. The study adds to our understanding of the benefit of losing weight. I would hope that this encourages people not to give up."

Previous anti yo-yo dieting reports claimed this kind of a diet could double the risk of death from heart disease, including heart attacks, and the risk of premature death in general. It was also linked to strokes and diabetes and showed to suppress the immune system, making the body more vulnerable to infection.

What do ou think about the new research? about yo-yo dieting? share your ideas & experience!
  3. Inside JK Rowling's Tasmanian home

    07 June 2011 - 05:40 AM

Harry Potter's author JK Rowling has bought a new house for herself and her family.

The author who currently lives in the UK now has a new property in Tasmania, Australia, that she bought for $10 million. The house was build in the 19th century using convict labor. The house goes with a big farm and has several outbuildings.

It has seven bedrooms, three bathrooms, living rooms, formal sitting rooms, cellars, a gym and a self-contained north wing, as well as a pool, tennis court and stables, and an almost 2-mile driveway lined with 160-year-old English oak trees.
  4. When makeup becomes art

    31 May 2011 - 06:08 AM

young makeup artist from Ontario, Canada, Katie Alves knows how to make everyday cosmetics look fabulous in the fairy-tale way. Katie Alves creates detailed drawings on eyelids using Disney stories and calendar events as her inspiration.

Katie says her favorite scenes include those from Disney's Little Mermaid, Entangled and Lion King.

    Alves says:

"One day I got the idea to do a little Halloween design on my lips, just to see if I could do it. It turns out I could and it evolved into what I do now. I have done a lot of Disney, but that's not all I do. I have dozens of non-Disney make-up as well. When I first started out, I did designs based on the seasons and important dates in the calendar like Christmas. I started with a lot of Halloween based ideas and went from there. I got into Disney because one of my followers requested that I do something with Snow White. I use regular make-up you could find at a store."

Though Katie started out in last October, her works look quite professional, especially if take into account that she spends up to two hours to complete each eye.
