Anja Rubik (12 June 1983, Rzeszów, Poland) and her family left Poland in 1988 and lived in Greece, Canada, and Umtata, South Africa. Attending a British high school in Paris Rubik was introduced to the modeling. She wanted to finish school before officially becoming a model, therefor worked only on holidays.
Rubik began her modeling career soon after finishing school. She covered several magazines, including French, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and German Vogue, Numéro, Flair, Russh, Nylon and Elle. She has worked with such designers/brands as Givenchy, Chloé, Christian Dior, Hermès, Valentino, Gucci, H&M, Fendi, Missoni, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Balenciaga, Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Ralph Lauren. She has also done haute couture for Valentino, Chanel, and Elie Saab. She has appeared in editorials for Numéro, i-D, W Magazine, V Magazine, Harpers Bazaar, and Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, German, Spanish, British, French, and Italian Vogue. And also appeared in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2009.
Vogue Paris declared Anja Rubik one of the top 30 models of the 2000s. Currently ranked equal 3rd, along with Freja Beha Erichsen, on the Top 50 Models Women List and 23rd on the Top 25 Money Girls List, which features highest-paid high fashion models in the industry, by models.com.
