According to new research, scoring freebies or discounts while shopping delivers a mental rush similar to watching porn, the Telegraph reports.

Scientists from the University of Westminster in England made the finding after wiring 50 volunteers and gauging their eye movements and emotional responses to shopping promotions.

Using a scale of 1 to 10, with a score of 5 to 7 on par with sexual arousal, the study reportedly showed that getting free items with their purchases made people register high scores. (No wonder we spend three years of our lives shopping  .)

For example, consumers reportedly ranked getting a gratis children's audiobook with their Marmite as a 5.8. Um... disturbing?

Wow. If a free kid's book can get people all hot and bothered, just imagine the orgasmic effect of winning something cooler! :D
