It is generally considered that men are the ones who are constantly wanting sex, but I personally think that this statement is wrong. I often hear from women that usually that after few years of marriage or relationship women play the roles of provokers. Why does it happen that way?

Well, in my family there are periods (which can last for months) when it's me who initiates the love-making, and periods when my husbands does. I can't say for sure why it happens but i don't think it in any way depends on the duration of the relationship.
