We used to think that being a stylish man means dressing up according to the latest fashion trends and tendencies, but it is nearly impossible for the average guy with the average income since keeping up with the vogue is a never ending task. You may spend couple months saving up for the Prada pastel pink safari suit with detachable collar priced at £2,000 and as soon as you buy this suit it appears to be old news.

If you are tired of running after the constantly changing trends, there is another way for you called Anti-Fashion. It supposes adopting your own style of dressing what allows avoiding the short-lived caprice of the world of fashion.

If it sounds appropriate for you, let’s keep on. According to the anti-fashion concept you will only need 5 basic items in your wardrobe. It is up to you deciding on buying either high quality example of these items, but keep in mind the better is the garment, the longer it will last. It is also important to buy at least 2 exemplars of each item.

Despite its similarity to the prison uniform, it is hard to find a more neutral piece of clothing. Besides, it will keep you warm and cozy during cold and dank days. For the more formal look pair your sweater with a plain white shirt.

Its neutrality and simplicity allows easily combining it and creating various looks. Make sure it has a good fit: it shouldn’t pull at the buttons and hang at the shoulders. And the most important part- it should be always perfectly white and ironed.
Navy trousers

I bet you thought that I would offer you jeans? I could, but sometimes they appear to be too casual to wear for some occasions, especially with your grey sweatshirt. Again, the right fit is important. Straight or slim shaped trousers are the best option and please avoid the ones with a tapered fit. As for the length, navy trousers should last till the touch the top of your shoes. Chinos style of trousers are probably the best choice.
Brown leather shoes

There is no need to specify the style as long as they have the laces. Just try to avoid too square or too sharply pointed toe. It could be Brogues, Derbies, Oxfords. Don’t forget to polish them on regular basis in order to avoid the leather cracking and prolong their longevity.

As a rule, watch play the role of the completing element of the entire look. It would be better to opt for the classic watch with round dial and leather straps. You may also add a bright scarf or a red pin on a collar- something that will liven your entire look a bit and make it more compound.
