We all know that junk food won’t affect our waistline in a good way. But according to the latest study it could also be negatively reflected on our mental health. The junk food like hamburgers, hotdogs and pizza can increase your chance of depression development.

The study carried by the Spanish scientists from the university of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria discovered that those people that prefer consuming fast food are 51 percent more likely to suffer from depression comparing to those who avoid eating fast food or consume it in moderate amounts.

Almudena Sanchez-Villegas, study leader, said during the interview to the

Journal Public Health Nutrition:

"The more fast food you consume, the greater the risk of depression.”

Along with health problems, those people to prefer eating fast food were likely to be single and less attractive.

The SUN Project’s sample (University of Navarra Diet and Lifestyle Tracking Program) included 8,964 participants that were never diagnosed with depression or taken anti-depressants.

The sample under SUN Project (University of Navarra Diet and Lifestyle Tracking Program), comprised 8,964 participants, who had never been diagnosed with depression or taken anti-depressants. They were examined for the average of six months: 493 of them were diagnosed with depression or started anti-depressants intake.

I think that the junk food is also not letting people get the vitamins and nutrients that is really needed for their bodies, that might cause depression too.
