here are some famous singers turned actors. some of them were/are successful in both fields and some should better stick to singing ;)

Elvis Presley

The world renowned King of Rock n Roll become the King of Hollywood for more than a few years. Elvis wowed the box office and movie goers starring in such feel good fun as Blue Hawaii (1961), Roustabout (1964) and Harum Scarum (1965). Elvis co-starred alongside such acting heavyweights as Angela Lansbury and Ann-Marget.

Will Smith

This huge superstar of major Hollywood blockbusters started as the Fresh Prince. He was a musician and rapper who earned such acclaim for his personality and natural acting gifts - he got his own sitcom in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air.

After breaking free of his television acting roots, Smith has scored big in some of the most popular movies of all time including Independence Day (1996), Bad Boys (1995), Men In Black and I Am Legend (2007). In 2001, he nabbed an Oscar nomination for his lead role in Ali - the great boxer Muhammad Ali's life story.

Frank Sinatra


Ole Blue Eyes as he was called wasn't only a legendary singer, but became a respected actor in dozens of hit movies.

Amongst Sinatra's more successful acting turns was in films like Pal Joey (1957), The Man With The Golden Arm (1955), The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and The First Deadly Sin (1980) co-starring Faye Dunnaway as his ailing wife. Sinatra also appeared in an episode of the TV detective series Magnum P.I. opposite Tom Selleck.

Beyonce Knowles

As part of the super group Destiny's Child and with her own hit songs, Beyonce's reputation in music is assured. Now she's becoming an audience favorite for her acting.
In such well received movies as Dreamgirls (2006) and Cadillac Records (2008), Obsessed (2009)Beyonce is proving to all who are watching that she's got more than just a singing voice in her talent repertoire.

Justin Timberlake

The former boy band superstar of pop music sensation NSNYC is now a solo crooner and also an actor who's scored parts in a wide range of movies.

Most recently, he played a goofy hockey player in Mike Meyer's Love Guru (2008). Timberlake was also in Alpha Dog (2006) and provided the voice of Artie in Shrek The Third (2007), showing his ability to move skillfully and gracefully between varying types of acting jobs. His latest movies are The Social Network (check out the trailer), Bad Teacher and Friends with Benefits

Jennifer Lopez

starting as a dancer and singer JLO then tried her hand in the brand new sphere - acting. Judging by the impressive lsit of her movies - she does have a flair for it! Jennifer has starred in such movies as The Back-up Plan, Mosnter-in-Law, Shall We Dance, The Cell, The Wedding Planner, Maid in Manhattan, Jersey Girl, Gigli, Enough, Angel Eyes, Out Of Sight, Anaconda and more

Britney Spears

Crossroads became Brit's movie debut in 2002. Her next big breakthrough on TV was her guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother.

Christina Aguilera

50 cent (don't know the name of the movie)

Pete Doherty, crack-head and trouble maker rocker, is making his big scren debut in a film adaption of 19th Century French dramatist Alfred de Musset's autobiographical novel La Confession d'un Enfant du Sie`cle (The Confession Of A Child Of The Century). He plays the lead!

Doherty says of the role: 'The story is a love triangle, so it's pretty intense and romantic. I don't know if I'm a good actor, but they say I am.'

Those singers are major artists. It's not surprising the door opened for them to act.

rapper Drake is in talks to join the financial thriller Arbitrage. The indie film also stars Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon, and Eva Green.

Drake previously had a small role in the 2007 drama Charlie Bartlett and starred in the TV show Degrassi: The Next Generation.
