Fiona Apple recorded a new song in collaboration with Jon Brion and the Punch Brothers. The lyrics by kids at LA-based nonprofit 826LA for their upcoming benefit album, Chickens In Love. The track is called So Sleepy (The Bells) and it is absolutely hilarious and sweet.

Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God!

After five years of waiting, Fiona Apple has a new album on the way. YAY!

According to a recent profile in Modern Drummer magazine of Apple's drummer and co-producer Charley Drayton, the follow-up to her highly acclaimed 2005 LP "Extraordinary Machine" has a spring 2011 release date. The article states that Drayton, who has toured with Apple since 2006, co-produced and mixed the record, as well as played on it.

The release date and album title are still unknown, but according to singer-songwriter Michelle Branch, Apple's new material should be worth the wait. "Hate to brag but I heard a couple new Fiona Apple tracks today. Amazing," Branch wrote on Twitter Sept. 12.

Apple's most recent work has been leaked earlier this year, a collaboration with her longtime producer Jon Brion - the song, titled "So Sleepy," that will be featured on the "Chickens in Love" benefit album, a yet-to-be-released compilation of songs co-written by Los Angeles students at the creative writing non-profit 826LA.

Despite the reports last fall that Fiona Apple's new album will be out this spring Sony claim they don't know nothing about the new album:

Yay people! Fiona Apple's new album is on its way. Finally!

Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid posted a Tweet saying:

Update: Time reports that a spokeswoman for Epic said that the tweet by CEO L.A. Reid didn't say exactly that the album will be in a few weeks but confirmed that it will come out in 2012 but no date is set yet.

Update: Fiona's new album will be called "The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do", 23 words And I love it. The album is said to be released in June. YAY!
