Rock of Ages has flopped at the box office. The highly anticipated rock musical never got close to Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted :P , which maintained its number 1 spot with $35.5 million in its second weekend at domestic cinemas. Rock of Ages could only manage number 3 on the list, taking just $15.1 million. Taking into consideration the movie cast that includes Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Alec Baldwin among others, and all that marketing stuff throughout the U.S. over recent weeks, it’s a very, very, very poor taking.

So, here are top ten movies of the past weekend:

Attached Image: best-movies-of-the-week2.jpg

1. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted, $35.5 million
2. Prometheus, $20.2 million
3. Rock of Ages, $15.1 million
4. Snow White & the Huntsman, $13.8 million
5. That’s My Boy, $13 million
6. Men in Black 3, $10 million
7. The Avengers, $8.8 million
8. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, $2.2 million
9. Moonrise Kingdom, $2.18 million
10. What to Expect When You’re Expecting, $1.3 million

Have you seen any of these movies? Which one can yo recommend? Personally I've seen only The Avengers - the average movie I must say.

I have seen Prometheus, and was really thrilled. It has some epizode of spooky and gross moments, but most of it is really thrilling!

In time, every woman in literature and history will have been played by Keira Knightley. Well, she does have a particular talent for period dramas… So, the upcoming film adaptation of Anna Karenina reunites Keira Knightley with director Joe Wright, who steered the actress to her first Academy Award nod in Pride and Prejudice and a widely-praised turn in Atonement.

Attached Image: keira-knightley-as-anna-karenina2.jpg

In the new film, based on the Leo Tolstoy novel, Knightley plays one of literature’s most iconic heroines, an aristocrat who betrays the norms of 19th century Russia to pursue a passionate extramarital affair.

But taking on the role is a risky move. No matter how good she is, she’ll be “heavily scrutinized by literary purists” who have their own opinions of how Karenina should be played... I don’t see Keira as Anna either, but I cannot wait to see if she rises to the challenge...

What do you think? Is she a proper choice for portraying Anna Karenina?

I don't think she can handle the role.

Katy Perry is promoting her upcoming 3-D movie, Part of Me, which releases soon. This is a documentary and Katy’s trying to make people believe that she’ll be so open-hearted and rampant fighter for justice! And she’s insisting that this movie presents the “real” Katy Perry to the world. She’s even appears without makeup, but come on, she’s definitely wearing some – concealer and other subtle makeup. <_< Geez, she’s still lying and being fake, and why should we believe that complaining about how ‘Hollywood is so fake’ will somehow make her movie realistic and full of sacred truth? And why couldn’t this be on TV instead of the cinemas then – if Hollywood is so “fake” to her then why is she a part of it?

Attached Image: katy-perry-fake-persona4.jpg

Btw, Katy is attempting to make her ex hubby Russell Brand a kinda bad guy in her movie. Sorry, Russel – I know you’ve asked not to mention you in this movie – but she’s doing it anyway…

Attached Image: katy-perry-fake-persona6.jpg

I do not like Russell either, but he looks like one of few true blokes out there. He wanted a family, marriage, kids. She wanted fame, fantasy and fortune. Russell was ready, she was not. That is the truth that will prevail and she knows it. <_<

Pff, this cow exemplifies what is wrong with America. Creativity is ok but this sexy Smurfette thing goes too far. Katy has been selling sex to kids her entire career, and now this movie is going to try and re-write history on that. So fake Katy!

Men in Black 3 has now earned $599.4 million worldwide to become the highest-grossing title in the Sony franchise. In 1997, Men in Black earned $589.4 million. Moreover, MIB3 had already eclipsed Men in Black 2, which grossed $441.8 million globally.

Ew, that’s just hilarious. <_< No patch on the first, and nowhere near as soulless and joyless as the second, the success of this so-so sequel – clearly created largely for box-office as opposed to anyone having something new to add – shows that audiences are actually very happy to see a dead horse being flogged. Let’s take the last Pirates Of The Caribbean offering, the fourth film in a trilogy that no-one particularly liked, the second and the third movies having been boring, shitty remixes of a much-loved original. Geez, this is going to give Hollywood even more reason to resurrect some more certifiably-dead franchises that had pissed away their welcome with tired, cynical sequels… Pfff. <_<

Yep, The Hollywood machine is doing it again and again, no matter what.
