Drew Barrymore says her first memory of her dad, the actor John Barrymore, was when he picked her up and threw her against a wall at age three. Her alcoholic dad abandoned Drew and her mother exactly when Drew herself checked into rehab for alcoholism and cocaine addiction at the early age of 13. “I couldn’t figure out how to deal with him,” Drew told People.
Charlize Theron
Charlize Theron has never made a secret out of her teenage years when her mom was sent behind bars for kiling her dad when Charlize was only 15. Her dad was an alcoholic and often abused his mom when drunk. so Theron's mother killed him in self-defense.
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne, recovered alcoholic and drug-addict herself, was growing up in the super unhealthy family environment with her dad, rocker Ozzy Osbourne famously abusing drugs and alcohol throughout her childhood. “It’s been well known that I’m an abuser of drugs and alcohol for the best part of my life,” Ozzy told “Larry King Live” in 2004.
Halle Berry
Halle Berry's dad was an alcoholic. She once said he would abuse her mother and sister growing up. “I grew up with domestic violence, so I have a special place in my heart for women and children who suffer,” she told People magazine in 2007.
Adele
British singer Adele's dad was an alcoholic. He split from her mom when the future star was only 3. From his interview with The Sun: “I was putting away two litres of vodka and seven or eight pints of Stella every day. I drank like that for three years. God only knows how I survived it. I was deeply ashamed of what I’d become and I knew the kindest thing I could do for Adele was to make sure she never saw me in that state. ... I hit the bottle so hard that I am pretty much oblivious to anything that happened to me for three years. I was way, way below rock bottom by then. ... I was in the darkest place you can imagine. I saw no way out. I didn’t really care whether I lived or died.” “All I could do was drink and I’m so, so ashamed of myself for that. I was in so much grief that I couldn’t see past myself and how I was feeling. While Lindsay was growing up she saw her dad, Michael Lohan, use drugs. In one of her interviews Lindz confessed that she tried heroin because she knew her father had done it. “I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad. I was terrified of it,” Lindsay said. “But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid, and wanted to see what it was like. ... Mind-altering substances are so dangerous.”

Shia's dad, Jeffrey LaBeouf, a Vietnam vet, was addicted to both cocaine and heroin and sold pot. “[At] home, I’d watch my father going through heroin withdrawal. That kind of thing makes you grow up fast,” he said.
when making his Disney show “Even Stevens” Shia paid his dad to come with him on the set and stay off of drugs! “It was never ‘Drugs!’ It was never like that for my family, which helped me because I never had a curiosity, it was never closed off. It was always out in the open and it was always explained to me. I’m so grateful for that.”
Shia is a recovering alcoholic.
