Hi everybody,

What do you think about creating a list with the best movies based on great books? Share your favorite one and opinion on which was better: book or movie?

I'll start with Lord of the Rings, although I believe reading books touches you way more than watching movies, Lord of the Rings is a great movie.

Here you go:

Lolita
Requiem for a Dream
Winter of Frozen Dreams

Actually I don't usually see a movie if I have read the book...but my friend said she saw Shutter Island and fell asleep during the showing!! I was intrigued by her comment....and because I had read the book I thought why not see the movie. It is a very good movie the thing I loved most is that it followed 99 percent of the book, I would say it even enhances the movie.
"Okay, okay! I take it back. Unf*ck you!!!"

Most of the people would say a movie is usually worse than a book, it happens because movie makers take too many liberties with the plot...

There is a movie that deserves great praise. The Shawshank Redemption. It is the case when expounding upon the plot turned out to be a good thing!

Some movies are even better than books. For examples, when I watched 'Bridget Jones's Diary', I was eager to read the book...to be honest, I was slightly disappointed. though it's just my opinion.

Agree with you. Here the film is better. Renée Zellweger was amazing in the movie.

The best books-made-into-movies for me are "the da vinci code" and "the time traveler's wife".. ! Apart from these, I can think of the sisterhood series which has been able to grab attention both via books and the movies..

'Fifty Shades' book trilogy. They're making the movie 'Fifty Shades of Grey' - and it has already become notorious. I'd like to look it through at least...

P.S. But some slam the books calling them 'badly written porn that is demeaning to women'
