according to the new survey conducted by mentaline.com, 34% of teens have admitted to lying about having a mental illness like eating disorder, depression, addiction and self-harm simply to seek adults' attention, look cool and emulate celebrities

One in ten teens aged 12-17 thinks mental illnesses are ‘trendy’ with half of those believing it makes people ‘unique’, and a quarter thinking it ‘cool’ and ‘fashionable’.

‘It’s shocking that so many young people think mental health problems are fashionable,'Jesper Buch, of Mentaline.com, said. ‘It’s a very sensitive topic, so to see that many teenagers are blase about the whole thing isn’t good at all. Many young people are too quick to say “I’m depressed” or try to gain attention by pretending to have some kind of personal issue. Your teenage years should be spent enjoying life, not convincing people that you have issues that should be taken extremely seriously.’

OMG! What's wrong with these teens? speaking for myself, i can say i've never lied about any conditions like that i just don't see the point in it.

it's so crazy...

they just want attention. a popular girl or boy wouldn't lie to attract people, they have that attention for granted. but losers would.

Oh, that's ridiculous! That's crazy! That's disgusting! Why pretend being mentally ill? Seeking attention? Oh, f**k you, stupid teens! If only you'd imagine WHAT really mentally ill people experience you'd never 'seek attention' this way
